This poor deer clearly attempted to jump the fence and failed.

Millions of years of evolution are no protection against a solid iron spike.

Mercifully, entrapped by its hind leg, the deer almost certainly died quickly from shock.

I don’t see any point to such a fence, for any human can easily protect their self, with a coat over the spikes, to climb over this barrier.
