No, braking the law can get you arrested, and that’s not changing.

All that is being suggested is that the default setting for the child protection filter is ON for NEW accounts, replacing the current default of OFF.

Yes for the moment, BUT, you will have to ask your ISP to allow content into your home, which means you will have to be on a list. What will happen to this list a few months after that? I wonder.....Police now dont have to ask courts to track individuals like they used to, yes thats right they had the power before hand if a clerk thought the police had a legitimit reason to track you they could,BUT now they dont even have to ask! They can track who ever they like without having to give ANY reason to anybody!! Sorry, but absolute power ALWAYS corrupts absolutly, so giving anyone absolute power is a very VERY BAD idea even if the origional intent seems harmless.Look at the uproar about the press phone hacking, well guess what the police can now do it took without having to have any reason what so ever! Highest number of cameras in europe tracking you when your out, police tracking every place and conversation you have online, and listening to ever phone calls you may make, Anti-Terror laws to arrest or rather "Detain" with not having to have any reason or charge.....You dont think this is slowly creeping to absolute state power? Every conversation and every movement watched....Sorry but i dont like the way this is going, others might not see it yet because its happening so slowly, but this is bad! Lol but dont worry....its not like "weirdos" or "Fetishists" that dont conform to the norm are the first to be "delt" with now is it?.....:(

USA, UK, Australia, Netherlands.

It is the legacy of the protestant church.
They want to shove their morals up your anus.
Bunch of fags they are !

@Alec Anaconda, A1

He also announced a proposal to make it a crime to possess violent pornography containing simulated **** scenes, and said Google and other search engines would be asked to block searches based on certain phrases.

Now I am not particularly interested in r.ape porn, but I fully support it as do I fully support any other persons sexual preference (even homosexuality), as long as I do NOT have to look at it.

And let me tell you: I have been browsing the internet for porn a lot. And only a very few times have I stumbled upon extreme r.ape porn.
So their claim is bullshit ! You will not stumble upon extreme r.ape porn, just browsing the internet. You have to try your best to look for it !
So their proposal is pure censorship ! They want to remove the content and make it illegal, because they don't like it.
They feel they have the right to decide what you as an adult citizen should or should not be watching.
Who the fuck do they think they are ? Why do they think they should be in power over what you should be watching ?

FUCK YOU CAMERON !
FUCK YOU PROTESTANT CHURCH !

BURN IN HELL !

“There is nothing more UGLY than censorship”

... except for automated censorship.

I, for one, see no good reason to restrict access to “BlueTits”, “Great Tits” and oil-seed-ra*pe”.

UK residents, and those who normally live in the UK, can try to stop this nonsense.

I believe only citizens of the United Kingdom can sign this petition, otherwise I would be more than happy to sign it.

we are in minority

fetishists, gay, lesbians, masochists, sadists and so on
all those people belong to some minorities and majority will fight against them.

I bet in 10 years from now internet will gradually loose its freedom from sexual point of view.

Sadly, you could be correct, sebi40.

However, I suspect that profit will be the motivation, rather than morality, and we’ll return to paying a day’s wage for a hours entertainment purchased from a licensed sex shop.

Thank you for your support, Mick.

In addition to citizens, people who “normally live in the UK” can sign.

I’ve no idea what normally means in this context.

I guess that all other people can do is to post the link in other places, to spread the idea.

35,639 so far.

Being a yank, I don't know the precise issues in the law but when I was last on your side of the pond a few years ago (visiting relatives in Wales to be precise), my VPN worked just fine. I use VPN4All but my guess is any would work. Just VPN to Belgrade and go from there. Has the government restricted VPNs also? My guess is no because businesses would be upset. They just want to protect the kiddies and - more importantly - get the votes of the parents.

If I wanted to break the law, a monthly payment for encryption would be justified.

As I’m a law abiding citizen, one who pays tax on almost everything, including on taxes, I would sooner sign this,

36.422 percent of sufficient, so far.

VPN still need IP addresses and go through a ISP,using a VPN only means it goes from your ISP to a company server that hides your actual IP to one of theres. The govenment is tracking ALL IP's including those going to these compainies, they then demand the logs from them...If the company refuss to hand them over they tell the ISP to block access from UK lines to that companies IP address.
NO internet activity is 100% untrackable because of its nature....The police ALREADY had powers to track illegal activities by way of submitting a request to the court service, these new powers means there answerable to no-one! Any organization or person that has absolute power ALWAYS BECOMES ABSOLUTLY CORRUPTED! There was no need for these powers the only thing that has changed is now EVERYONE is spyed on with no one for them to answer too! Nazi state anyone?

People sign pertitions because they believe in the cause.....Only problem is, if people sighn this pertition they would have a list of people they can use these powers on first! Do spread the word as the truth always must come out and NEVER trust a politition because everything they say is always a lie!

Lol sorry if i rant too much but the way this is going it scares the life out of me but no-one else seems to see the patterns of history repeating itself, apart from the people here that is but it scares me the numbers are so low (again exactly like the past)..... Freedom for all,and democracy in its truest sence and not whats it becoming!

Here’s an email I recieved today. http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/51746 to support.

------------------

The e-petition 'Do Not Force ISP Filtering of Pornography and Other Content' signed by you recently reached 37,657 signatures and a response has been made to it.

As this e-petition has received more than 10 000 signatures, the relevant Government department have provided the following response: In his speech on the 22 July[1], the Prime Minister announced a set of new measures for the internet industries to help parents keep their children safe online.

From the end of this year, when new customers set up a broadband account, they will be prompted to set up parental controls.
If a customer repeatedly clicks ‘yes’ to get through the set-up quickly, filters will be automatically selected. Parental controls are easy for the account holder to change, so customers who do not want filters can simply switch them off.
In addition, parents will have the option to customise filters, so that only the categories of content that they choose will be filtered out in their household.
The Government is aware of concerns that filters may lead to over-blocking.
A UK Council for Child Internet Safety working group will look at this issue specifically and will report back to the Ministerial chairs.
If a consumer or a website owner feels that a site has been wrongly or unfairly blocked, they can seek redress directly with the relevant internet service provider (ISP).
ISPs have contracts with their customers which include good practice Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs) about what may be hosted on their servers.
Most AUPs already contain a general clause which allows them to remove sites or content which contain inappropriate or offensive material, even if it is not illegal.
The Government expects these sites to respond to complaints quickly and effectively as it is they who are best placed to deal with these issues.
In the UK, we support a self-regulatory model for the internet industry as legislation can rarely adapt and change quickly enough to respond to the constantly evolving online environment.
It is important to note that in an open society like ours, it is necessary to find the right balance between protecting the public and legitimate freedom of speech.
The Government will continue to work with ISPs and the rest of the internet industry to help people enjoy the benefits of the internet safely.
