yes you can go out and spend a couple hundred dollars on a new hard drive or another computer just for your collection...but for thoese who cant afford the hardware or are technologicly imparred, i suggest an easy faster and even more stealthly method...

1. Go to walmart, best buy, radio shack, ect. and instead of looking at new computers or expensive attachments, look for a FLASH DRIVE memory unit. its no bigger than your thumb and can hold numorous amounts or videos messages audio.

(family freinds roommates). when your done adding or veiwing your clip just take it right out of the USB slot and your off on your way. without them ever finding out.

And if your computer does contract a virus and its destroying all of your files and beloved "movies" simply remove the FLASH DRIVE and your collection will be safe. the same sadly wont be said for anything else on your computer.

but to download movies...
1. download them like you always would, rapid share, mega upload, superbuttstufer, where ever you download them.
2. when the little grey box apperes that asks you where you would like to put the file, names, sizes, ect. go to the box that asks you where you would like the file to be sent to click on the new icon titled: memory drive, usb flash drive, merorie unit, somthing.
3. select this icon and hit save. after a short time you will have the selected file and it will be saved onto your USB FLASH DRIVE and not your hard drive.

with pictures just right click hit save as...and save it into the falsh drive. duu

To TRANSFER files and movies. just drag and paste, or right click on the file and select the "send to" option and select the usb drive.

im trying to think of any other help with this simple simple simple piece of technology. it wont hurt your computer they come in all different shapes colores and memorie sizes. they are a BB life saver and just plain flat out helpfull.

BECAUSE WHEN YOU NEED TO HIDE, STORE, PROTECT, OR ANY OTHER NEEDS WITH YOUR COLLECTION. YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE IT CLOSE TO YOU ON A:
USB FLASH DRIVE!!!

lol, flash drives are really handy to have, you can buy a credit card sized box that holds 6 different 2 gig flash drives. the stuff you can find nowadays is awesome

no i do not work for any compony like that...im actully a cook. its just that iv always needed to hide my bb from roomates and recently i let my cousin use the computer so he can find a new job. well he decided to turn off the safty setting and everything because the "warning dangerous site" block kept appering. so right now i am trying to get rid of a virus he put on here and im losing lots of stuff fast. my itunes is being destroyed and thats what pisses me off the most. but all my hard to find or non- replaceable stuff is on my flash drive. and now i must get back to de-bugging my computer. been at it for 2 days now and im actully breaking ground. considering i dont know a single thing about computers im even amazed with myself. :jumpsmile

A couple of comments ...

Flash drives use a destructive write process. If you write to it a lot, it will break down over the course of several years. For most people, this doesn't mean much as their important files become less important after two or three years, but most people in this community ... they've been with it for a longer time.

This means you may need to replace the drive periodically. Also, make sure you don't carry this on your keychain ... I've lost two good flash drives (even one that was "ruggedized") that way because they bang around too much.

Also, you could use TrueCrypt (a free program) to keep all of that stuff safe from prying eyes. The process is that you create a file (say ... mystuff.tc) and the program will mount that file (after you enter the password) as a drive image. From there you can read / write the files as if it were a normal drive, but once you dismount the drive, it's completely safe and locked up using the highest grade encryption available.

I use this on my laptop as I don't keep anything important on a flash drive anymore. My entire collection is kept on a 5GB tc file. I excluded this from my daily online backups for size reasons, but every few weeks I do a full system backup so it's fairly safe.

If all of that stuff is too difficult or too foreign, you may want to invest in the ironkey

It's a high quality USB flash drive that uses strong, built in, encryption, it's got a metal case, and it's filled with epoxy so stuff doesn't rattle around and break. It's got a portable version of firefox and tor so you can surf from your ironkey instead of from the computer -- keeps things nice and clean.

Here's the one feature I've got mixed feelings about. If you enter the password wrong 10 times, the thing self destructs. It uses the firmware to overwrite everything on the drive and makes it a very shiny piece of trash.

I've never used a flash drive, can't speak for them. I have all my videos backed up on CD-Rs and on my (300gb) external hard drive as well.

I'm also a fan of using USB flash drives in most cases, though the one downer they have to a hard disk is their reduced size (which is why I didnt reccomend them last time round). I hear a lot of people braggin about their 30gb collections, so unless they're bluffing a little flash drive isnt gonna be very useful to them. Flash disks (from what i've seen around at a decent price) vary up to 8GB which is quite a lot but it really depends on how much content you have. With regards to the whole flash disk VS hard disk debate- It reminds me a lot of a debate between programming languages, and the answer is the same. Use whatever best suits your needs. :)
