OK maybe im being stupid but what is the deal with this new cat thing ya gotta type in only 4 letters with a cat to see a video???

I have tried several times and I can't do it. Is it just the ones where the cat is upright?

Maybe my eye sight is failing me :(

The cat doesn't have to be upright, it can be in any position. You must've typed in some of the numbers with the dog in front of it. The only way I can tell teh cat and dog apart is by looking at the tail.

I fully agree, rapidshare is totally IDIOTIC. We should boycott these crazy guys. I didn't understand this ridiculous cat thing either.

Isn't MEGAUPLOAD a good alternative...?

Yep. Hopefully this site will get a moderator, someone other than Sharon. The links thread had a politics debate that lasted almost a week. The posts are probably still there...

Look for the Cat ears and tail, it is very much different from the dog. You can find it easy the numbers and letters this way.

Rapidshare is bad. :cussing:

Rapidshare is a commercial organisation who make their money from premium services.
They have mutated their CAPTCHA from a “reverse Turing test” into a frustration barrier; you think you should be able to solve the puzzle but often fail.
Their objective is to persuade you into paying for the facility.

Their “letters” seem to be A to Z and 0 to 9. Apart from the difficulty in finding the cats, symbols 0, O, 1, I and L are virtually indistinguishable but still have to be entered correctly.

Some people could argue that it’s unreasonable to not expect to pay for their services. Perhaps I should also give away my eBooks.

Please post the times of the happy hours!

Happy hours are listed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapidshare#Happy_Hours Also, 0/O/o are interchangeable.

Crapyshare is just taking the piss, I dont use it anymore than I have to but when I do it is a pain in the ass every time. Their marketing people have completely lost the plot. One assumes that any free access provision is used as a promotion to atract paying customers, in which case you would think that it would be made as user friendly as possible. They should either provide limited free use or not, just make up their mind. If they dont want to do the free bit then OK, just dont bugger us about with the pretence that it is available. I can cope with the cat thing but once I get past that I am told that I have used up my quota, when I havent even used the thing for months. Most recently I have been getting a note saying that I have entered the wrong code before I have had a chance to enter anything. Is this just another crapyshare piss take.
I would not even think of paying for a service from such a screwed up outfit.
There have been a number of complaints about them on this forum so come on guys give them the elbow, use something else. I think that the message is loud and clear from crapyshare that they do not need to encourage new customers via the free sample route.

I agree--it has become a royal PITA.

However distinguishing the cats from the dogs is not that hard. The key is to find the distinctive features of the cat: the long tail of medium width, the wide head, and the two erect triangular ears pointed upwards. When you look for those characteristics, finding the cats becomes relatively easy.

FWIW, it's a jsut another form of hunting: you don't look for the whole animal; you just look for the differentiating and telltale features. This approach also works in analyzing high altitude photography.
