You can do something else: When you click on the "Insert Image" button, you can go to the "From URL" tab and deselect "Retrieve remote file and reference locally".
That way, you are not downloading (i.e. retrieving) the picture. On the contrary, a link is just established to the location of the file in its original web site. It is however shown here without any problem. I always do that.
