I've seen a report in Computeractive, issue 275, page 69, about the new Criminal Justice Act, which takes effect Jan 1st 2009. They say it will become a criminal offence, punishable by 3 years imprisonment, to possess video or images that depict actions that could "result in serious injury-particularly to the private parts", and the image is produced "solely for the purpose of sexual arousal".
The article then says that "possession" includes viewing such images on a website. Don't want to cause unnecessary alarm, but this seems to me that for a UK resident to be a member of a site like Femdom forums will be illegal and risk imprisonment. But this magazine is produced by people who are experts on computers, not the law, so I was wondering if any forum members have appropiate legal knowledge and could give us the benefit of their opinion of this?
And do remember everyone that this law, whatever its implications, only applies to UK residents.
