I read somewhere that there were three different levels of ********** in Rome. The "Castri" had both testicles and penis severed. The next one (sorry can't remember its name) had the testicles and scrotum removed. Finally, the last one had the testicles crushed. One of the reasons for men doing this was work. When a man and his wife were splitting up, they needed a person to deal fairly with their assets. Men were concerned that there wives would use sex to gain an advantage. So when a man acting as the custodian raised his gown to show his crotch without balls or a cock, the man felt he would get fair treatment. Some women felt discouraged. The next level down had a custodian with his balls and sack removed. Men insisted that the sack be removed so that there could be no chance of the custodian hiding his balls up in his crotch. The last one with only his balls crushed was rejected.
