It works...
ive tried a million of those stream capture programs and none of them ever worked. the only thing that has worked so far, for firefox, is the "unplug" tool, which you can download. it grabs streaming video.

to use, go to the page with the youtube vid, then goto your tools menu in firefox and click on "unplug." there will be a list of things but it tells you "this is the one you want." youtube is always .flv i think, which is flash video. then you just need to be able to play flash videos, or get a flash converter program.
I just wanted to mention a few groups on youtube worth looking at.
