Hero Bust Saga Game, support via patreon

This is my second take since autosave failed to save anything beyond the first sentence.

Warning Hero Bust Saga contains brutal ballbusting and ball removing/destruction. This is an alpha, and is meant to demonstrate the kinds of games I wish to make, so many assets like backgrounds are missing, and it is not finished in many regards.

    Download https://www.dropbox.com/s/fc0w3sjl0d...0v0.1.rar?dl=0

Installation is extracting the files to any location, and running the executable. Note that the data folder and executable can be anywhere, but must be together.

    Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=604987

Here is the model, I want to develop ballbusting games for free, so anyone and everyone can enjoy, and hopefully decide that they like them enough to support me on Patreon. Instead of trying to completely finish them I am making most of one starting game with the hope that I can get pledges to help pay for the rest and fund future episodes/game series that people can also get for free.

I only created one patreon reward, which is that I will make new material available to patrons earlier than everybody else; not a big reward, but it is something. I know there is always some risk "paying" for something not finished, but no one has to pledge, and if you decided to retract your pledge you can.

Talking pledges I am hoping for at least $700 per month to consider this viable. The reality is if there is not enough pledged I will probably cancel the Patreon. Considering people can choose how much to give this could just be 700 people at $1 each. Anything beyond 700 I can start looking into using the money to fund things like asset creation or a forum for the games. A lot of niche porn games are $10 to $15 since sales figures are so low; this is my attempt to make it not just available to everyone, but affordable to anyone who can spare a dollar. I don't know if I can make a new thing to release every month, but as long as people are pledging I can certainly try.

Lets talk about how the game does/should play. The basics of Hero Bust Saga or any potential game built using the same system is a click through story of narrative/dialogue, and a turn based RPG text combat system. The story would be created in separate episodes, which can be played continuously, or just start a new game at any episode. A battle system will allow users to create whatever battles they choose between any of the available characters; right now the battle button only starts the only battle in the game so far. I am hobby modder, so it is my intention to make the games easy to mod, and have a built in mod loader in the menu system; most of the data files are in xml format and can be edited with note pad.

My first post explained far more than this, so I may explain/expand on ideas later.

Do you actually think a text game with clip art warrants $700

The $700 number is more of a big picture idea, no one individual would be donating or digital tipping more then maybe a couple dollars. Getting 700 people to pledge money might not work at all; could turn out to be a total failure, but I could only regret if I did not try. The 700 is a goal, maybe it is a lofty one, but making games from the ground up takes lots of time and effort, which is why so few including ballbusting have ever existed. In a day and age where the internet is flooded with free porn how does one compete? Especially in a niche market where sales figures will probably never be that high. I don't have the money to finance a modern game, and even if I did I would not make one without a widespread audience appeal. I wanted to make games featuring Ballbusting, so they would never be widespread, and this is the lowest risk solution I came up with.

Ballbustars BBHigh Episode 2 is $15, -YUFFIE the HUNTING- TESTIS CRUSH!! was at least like $10, and both of these where text based games with 2D art; yes BBHigh used a 3d program like Poser to make it's backgrounds, but they are still just 2D images. Why should my attempt get a pass? Because there isn't much in the way of ballbusting video games; for many the web based games by Poiu were awesome, but are no longer available, because of money to host the sites. The only current online ballbusting battle game I know of is BallBrawl, but that is guy on guy, so not really my cup of tea. I am trying to combine my two favorite things containing ballbusting: erotic fiction and text based combat games, combine them together, and hope enough people want to see where I can take it.

EDIT: Where would the money be going? Well most of it would be incentive for me to put as much time and effort into this as I can spare, then from there the rest would go into paying other people to create assets. I am not the best writer, not a great artist, don't have access to a digital library of sounds, so I will need the help of others if I want to ensure quality, but nobody works for free.

My intention as of right now it to finish as many of the planned features that I can, and start working on an episode 2. People can pledge to incentivize progress, and since the money doesn't go anywhere until the change of the month you will have plenty of time to remove any pledges if you change your mind.

EDIT: I forgot to actually answer the question of is a game of such type worth $700 per month, well that would entirely depend on personal preferences, so the best that I can do is try to make it worth it to as many people as I can.

In the spirit of expanding potential audiences I have come up with a simple way to have two different versions of the game. I know I prefer over the top brutal ballbusting in stories, but not all do, so there can be casual and brutal versions. Without any boring details there would be two different versions of text, and the battle mechanics would be changed. A simple toggle option in Options would allow people to choose their preference.

I updated several things, to include adding an option to change modes between casual and brutal; casual meaning does not contain any ball removal/destruction. The game will also automatically save it's position between plays, where the continue button will resume from the last place; note that the game doesn't save during battles, so only before or after. I cleaned up some of the visuals with button skins, and made all backgrounds white for now.

My next step is working on the custom battle menu.

I guess what I really want to hear is what people want or think about all of this. I want to make games I would want to play, but also if I want a community funded/driven games, then I need to know what the community is interested in seeing.

Considering Unity supports both, then the only issue I run into is I don't own a mac to test, but I can put one out there, and see if it works.

If anyone who has a Mac would be so kind to try and play this, and provide feed back if it worked; I would be grateful.

The .app should just run. Compressing it on a Windows machine could be the cause so I uploaded a version not in a .rar archive.

I would like to preface this with, that this is a work in progress, and that the idea is with support on patreon I could commission an independent artist to draw the characters, backgrounds, and ballbusting scenes.

I'm now looking at a "Contents" folder with nothing that looks like an executable app file. Not sure that helped. Maybe get ahold of a mac to test and I might support the project. For now I'd only throw $5-10 seeing as you have no final product with which to hook anyone into trusting that you can make a quality game. Maybe create a high fidelity short game as a test and then expect a following that will support you financially. Otherwise, we are giving you money without earning our trust a little.

For running the .app folder I found something that explains two ways to do it. I realize these methods might be too complicated for normal users, so I'll see if I can create some executable script to run the .app folder.
